Tips to improve your English | How I do it

Tips to improve your English | Have you ever dream of being able to speak in English fluently with all your friends, teachers and even foreigners. Here's a few simple tips that you can try and practice. I'm not even good or fluent myself and am still learning. I'd always consider my self a newbie when it comes to English as there are still so many things that I need to learn. I am no master or the best in this as I'm no teacher and etc. But at the very least I love to practice and use English in my daily life. That was one of the reason why I wrote all my blogpost in English.

As you can noticed, I use no bombastic words or high level of English. I tried to make it simple so that I can keep on practicing and improve my english as well as helping others who are reading to improve theirs. Now, that's fair. At the very least I won't be the only one to understand what I'm writing. I'd be happy if you guys could understand it too. That was my intention from the beginning. Let's all try and and learn to improve ourselves. My grammar as well is not as good as others so I am very sorry about that.

READ READ READ

I do spend a lot of my time reading. My love for reading started back when I was in primary school. My mum used to nag at me a lot asking me to read read and read all the time. So, thanks to my birth giver for this awesome hobby of mine. I think it's awesome having the love to read. But reading does not only concern books, novels and stuff, it can as well be other materials.

As for I am now busy with my study, I spend a lot of time on journals that it actually gives me headache. Fret not, I do enjoy it from time to time. It's kinda stressful leaving all my favourite books behind and move to journals instead but that's okay. It's still reading tho.

When you read, you'll keep on replaying all those words inside your head that it'll be a habit for you someday and unconsciously you'll improve through time. Isn't that great? Good thing takes time so be patient okay.

WATCHING ENGLISH MOVIES

This would be my second favourite. If watching Korean dramas can help you speak Korean why not English? Since English is universal and being used all over the world there's no excuse. Haven't you noticed that even while watching the Korean dramas, there'll be an English subtitles. I'm sure most of you read the subtitles. There you go. You're reading. So watching movies isn't bad at all when you're adding that learning English part to the light.

SONGS

Well, I don't need to elaborate on this too much I guess. Don't tell me you guys don't sing. Don't tell me you guys don't memorise lyrics at all. Well, I do. I enjoy various kinds of music and I improve my English a lot more through songs. Not only by listening but to sing it along. I still notice that most of us are not into these songs. And the fact that they are having a hard time with English speaks that they don't enjoy it much. Mostly none realise that it's one of the most fundamental source in learning and improving the language we're learning. It helps us to get used to it by time.

If you're not used to it. Try. It's never too late to try.

PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT

The most important trick on whatever we're doing or learning is to always practice and make used of it. I've heard the same thing over and over again for the past 20 years. And I still heard the same thing even today. How did I do it? I practice and practice and practice with all my friends, my families and even went up to anyone to have a conversation with them. Trust me I did. So don't be shy and just do it.

Once my lectures and friends used to mock (but in a good way, worry not) me about me being all weird and talks to the tree or myself. Self talk is what I do all the time. I wasn't actually talking to the tree but I was singing, talking and practicing to improve my skills on speech. That was how I build all this self-assured kinda skills.

Don't think about others might say but think about what you want to say and convey with your own words.

DON'T BE LAZY & DO IT

Since practice makes perfect so it is vital to not be lazy ! Get your ass up and go work on it. But congratulations to those who have read this until the end. You've done a great job since you're completed the first one. That is to read read and read. I am so proud of you.

But I can assure you that, I improve my English through times with the helps of reading and all the few tips that I've shared with you guys. There's a lot more missing here but I'm highlighting on a few which I found to be convenient to share here. I'm sure some of you have your own tips. Mind sharing in the comment too? Should I add more? What say you?

So, how about you?

  2. Assalamualaikum Ray..
Back then, I used to ignore if the words was so hard to prenounce. For example if I read an article, I just winged it and skip the paragraph. Haha.. But now I love to challenge myself by keep using its in my daily conversation.

  16. teringat pesanan cikgu BI (arwah) ms sek men dulu. katanya, nak improve english ni byk caranya. cara plg mudah, buat sesuatu yg kamu suka. kalu suka dgr lagu, dgr lah lagu english. kalau suka berkawan, cari kwn yg tak reti langsung ckp BM kec english ;-). kalau suka membaca, cr bahan berbahasa inggeris yg kamu minat... pd mulanya mmg kurang fhm tp bila sendiri dah buat, baru kita nmpk 'jalannya'.

So when I was in boarding school I was surrounded with all malay environment.. Nak practise cakap English among malay even u in SBP pun is not a positive move.. People will tease u... Acah2 mat salleh la... Dengar to all English songs pun dah kena cop kebaratan.. So I couldn't care less n don't even bother bout it pun... Listening to English songs... Reading English novels... And kawan dengan non malay in order to improve n speak fluently
